Dianne Bellino is a writer-director originally from Rhode Island based in NYC. She makes fiction films, both live action and animation, in which the everyday meets the irrational, mysterious, and unknowable.
Dianne's short films have screened widely at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, and AFI Fest, winning numerous awards. Her films have been featured on Vimeo Staff Picks, Short of the Week, NoBudge, and Fandor. Dianne's work has been supported by grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Boomerang Fund for The Arts, and Women in Film LA, where Dianne received the Deborah Hill Film Grant, given to a filmmaker “whose work represents a singular vision and ability to think beyond the normal conventions of filmmaking." Dianne has been selected for numerous artist residencies, including the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Ucross, and the Wedding Cake House in Providence, RI. Prior to making her own films, Dianne worked in the film/television industry (notably as assistant to director Harmony Korine on julien donkey-boy) and created cover artwork and photographs for indie rock bands (published in Interview, Dazed, New Musical Express).
As a film professor, Dianne teaches in the Film, Media, and Performing Arts Department at FIT in Chelsea. She previously taught at Pratt Institute and the New School. She holds an MFA in Film/Video Production from the University of Iowa and a BA with Honors in Creative Writing from Brown University.
Dianne is currently working on a new live action short and a feature script.
